Concealing from the perceived adversary by appearing to be part of the natural surroundings is a tactic often used by wildlife.
I can see you but I sure hope you cannot see me. I have used that approach when hiding feelings because I may not be sure if what I sense is true. Intuition can be right but it also can be wrong. I do not recommend camouflage for long term; truthful discussion is best, but now and again I need to assess before speaking, lying low in order to size up the situation. I have discovered the enemy is sometimes within me.
